Zombie behavior basics

Zombies are aggressive and attack on sight with close-range damage. They can be knocked down after taking damage and show a black skull symbol above their head when fully dead. All zombies share the same base model — cosmetic variations are tied to in-game events.

Vehicle damage from zombies

Zombies can damage your car if they swarm it. Each part has a finite HP — community anchors suggest a door's effective HP is ~30. If a swarm sits on a closed door long enough, the part is lost. Clear the area before exiting the vehicle.

Weapons roster

Melee: hammer (starter), crowbar, knife, sword, axe, sledgehammer. Ranged: Remington 870, rocket, rocket launcher. Each weapon has its own DPS profile; the zombie encounter calculator models DPS, knockdown probability, and door-loss probability per weapon.

Combat strategy — community consensus

Use the hammer for melee when something gets close. Keep distance and pick zombies off one at a time. Avoid large groups — drive around rather than through. Use your car as a weapon — run down stragglers when safe. Protect your vehicle — do not leave it parked in a swarm.

Looting ruins safely

Bring fuel and weld gear to escape after looting ruins. Drive in, sound the horn to draw zombies, drive away, then come back once they've followed. Park outside the ruin perimeter when possible.
